Philip Ng Wan-Lung, born on September 16, 1977, in British Hong Kong, is a Hong Kong-American actor, martial artist, and action choreographer. Raised in a martial arts family, he began training in Choy Li Fut under his father and later studied Wing Chun through his uncle. After moving to Chicago as a teenager, he expanded his skills to include Hung Gar, Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Eskrima, and boxing. Ng earned a bachelor's degree in graphic design and a master's degree in education in the United States, where he also founded the Illini Wing Chun Association at the University of Illinois. Though he briefly worked as a teacher, his passion for martial arts and cinema led him back to Hong Kong in 2002 to pursue a film career. He started behind the scenes as a stuntman and choreographer before gaining recognition in films like New Police Story, Invisible Target, and Once Upon a Time in Shanghai. He played Bruce Lee in the 2016 biopic Birth of the Dragon and has since become a staple in Hong Kong action cinema, with roles in A Fist Within Four Walls, Undercover Punch and Gun, and the 2025 film Hit N Fun, for which he received a Best Supporting Actor nomination. Combining deep martial arts mastery with dynamic screen presence, Philip Ng stands out as a modern action star rooted in traditional discipline.
