Prabhas, born Uppalapati Venkata Satyanarayana Prabhas Raju on October 23, 1979, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is an Indian film actor renowned for his work in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil cinema. He is the nephew of veteran actor Krishnam Raju and the son of film producer U. Suryanarayana Raju. Prabhas completed his B.Tech from Sri Chaitanya College in Hyderabad before venturing into acting. He made his film debut in 2002 with Eeshwar and gained recognition with films like Varsham (2004) and Chatrapathi (2005). However, it was his portrayal of Amarendra Baahubali in Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and its sequel Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) that catapulted him to international fame. These films not only became massive box office successes but also established him as India's first pan-India superstar . Following the Baahubali series, Prabhas starred in several high-budget films, including Saaho (2019), Radhe Shyam (2022), and Adipurush (2023). While Saaho was a commercial success, Radhe Shyam and Adipurush received mixed reviews. He made a strong comeback with Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire (2023), which grossed ₹705 crore worldwide . In 2024, Prabhas starred in the sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD, which became his second film to cross ₹1,000 crore at the global box office . He has an exciting lineup of upcoming films, including The Raja Saab, a romantic horror-comedy scheduled for release on December 5, 2025 , and Spirit, an intense drama directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, set to begin production in late 2025.
