R. Ellis Frazier
Born on October 18, 1968, in Washington, D.C., R. Ellis Frazier is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer recognized for his work in the action and crime-thriller genres. The son of a military officer, Frazier spent seven years living in Mexico, a location that frequently serves as the backdrop for his gritty, border-centric films. He began his professional journey in the film industry around 2005, notably working for the legendary screenwriter and producer Ronald Shusett (Alien, Total Recall). Frazier is currently the CEO of Badhouse Studios Mexico, through which he has established a reputation for producing mid-budget, high-intensity independent action films. Frazier's directorial debut came with the 2009 crime drama La Linea (also known as The Line), which featured a prominent cast including Andy Garcia and Ray Liotta. Over the following decades, he became a prolific creator in the independent circuit, often collaborating with recurring lead actors like Michael Jai White and Louis Mandylor. His filmography includes titles such as Across the Line: The Exodus of Charlie Wright (2010), Misfire (2014), Larceny (2017), and As Good as Dead (2022). Known for his "organic" approach to filmmaking, Frazier often emphasizes practical action and international settings, continuing his streak into 2026 with the release of the thriller Oscar Shaw.
