Gadde Rajendra Prasad (born 19 July 1956 in Nimmakuru, Andhra Pradesh) is a celebrated veteran of Telugu cinema, fondly dubbed the “King of Comedy” and “Nata Kireeti.” He made his debut with Sneham (1977) and gained widespread recognition with Manchu Pallaki (1982). Over the decades, he has starred in more than 200 films, becoming a household name through comedic classics like Ladies Tailor, Aha Naa‑Pellanta! and Mayalodu, and has also been praised for emotional performances in Erra Mandaram and Aa Naluguru—each earning him prestigious Nandi Awards for Best Actor . Beyond comedy, Rajendra Prasad has tackled diverse roles including supporting and character parts in films like Julai, Srimanthudu and Mahanati—winning multiple SIIMA and Santosham Film Awards. In 2012, he received international acclaim and a Royal Reel Award at the Canada International Film Festival for his role in the thriller Dream—an achievement that also earned him honor at the IIFA green carpet. Raised in a middle-class family and a graduate in Ceramic Engineering, he trained in acting at MGR Film Institute after encouragement from the legendary N.T.
