Raoul Max Trujillo
Raoul Max Trujillo is an acclaimed American actor, dancer, choreographer, and theatre director with a career spanning over 45 years in film, television, and theatre. Born on May 8, 1955, in New Mexico, he has a diverse background with Tlaxcalan (Nahuatl), Ute, Apache, and Comanche heritage, among others. Trujillo began his professional life in the arts as a dancer, training at the Toronto Dance Theatre and the Nikolais/Louis Dance Lab before becoming a soloist with the prestigious Nikolais Dance Theatre from 1980 to 1987. Drawing on his Indigenous background, he later became the original choreographer and co-director for the American Indian Dance Theatre and created original works blending traditional native myths and contemporary dance. Transitioning to screen acting, he has built an impressive filmography and is widely recognized for his intense on-screen presence, often cast as warriors or formidable antagonists. His most notable film roles include the ruthless Mayan villain Zero Wolf in Mel Gibson's Apocalypto (2006), the Iroquois chief Kiotsaeton in Black Robe (1991), and Rafael in the Sicario films (2015, 2018). On television, he has had recurring roles in popular series such as Mayans M.C. as Che "Taza" Romero, Longshadow in True Blood, and appearances in The Blacklist, Da Vinci's Demons, and Blue Beetle (2023).
