Raymond Francis "Ray" Magliozzi (born March 30, 1949) is an American actor, writer, and radio personality best known as one half of the Tappet Brothers, Click and Clack, from NPR's popular radio show "Car Talk," which he co-hosted with his late brother Tom Magliozzi. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Ray, like his brother, graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), earning a degree in Humanities and Science. Before his career in radio, Ray worked as a VISTA volunteer and taught science.The "Car Talk" show began on local Boston public radio in 1977, and by 1987, it went national on NPR, quickly gaining a massive following due to the brothers' unique blend of car advice and humor. Their self-deprecating style and genuine camaraderie made them beloved figures in public broadcasting. Even after the original episodes ceased in 2012, reruns continue to air on NPR stations and the show maintains a strong presence through podcasts and its website.Beyond "Car Talk," Ray, along with his brother Tom, ventured into other media. They voiced the characters of Dusty Rust-eze in the Pixar animated film "Cars" (2006) and "Cars 3" (2017), and also appeared in an episode of the PBS Kids show "Arthur" and starred in their own animated PBS series "Click and Clack's As the Wrench Turns." Ray has also co-authored books related to the "Car Talk" show. Along with his brother, Ray was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in 2018, recognizing their significant cultural impact through their automotive expertise and entertaining delivery. Even after Tom's passing in 2014, Ray's legacy as "Clack" continues through the enduring popularity of "Car Talk."
