Rebecka Johnston
Rebecka Johnston is a Swedish actress known for her role as Ulrika in Ari Aster's acclaimed 2019 film Midsommar. Born in the small Swedish town of Lindesberg, she had an early connection to music, singing and playing piano and accordion. At 16, she discovered classical music and opera singing, which led her to study at the Hungarian conservatoire Etud in Budapest, marking the beginning of her acting career when she was cast in a commercial during her music studies. Fluent in Swedish, English (with RP and American accents), Hungarian, German, and some Italian and French, Johnston's musical ear aids her language skills. After completing opera studies in Hungary, Germany, and Austria, including a BA from the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest, she attended The Associated Studios Opera program, where she was introduced to improvisation theatre.Since Midsommar, Johnston has appeared in several productions, including the TV series The Alienist, The Ex-Wife, and the films Dance First and the upcoming Fight or Flight (2025). She is also credited in The Good Traitor, The Strangers: Chapter 1, and the TV series Halo and FBI: International. Beyond acting, Johnston has a passion for boxing and Thai boxing and is a qualified personal trainer. She is also a certified PADI advanced scuba diver and studies the Chubbuck technique at The International Acting Studio.
