Reed Edward Diamond (born July 20, 1967) is an American actor known for his extensive work in television and film. Born and raised in New York City, he studied acting at the Juilliard School. Diamond made his professional debut in the film "Memphis Belle" (1990). He gained significant recognition for his role as Detective Mike Kellerman in the critically acclaimed NBC police drama "Homicide: Life on the Street," where he was a regular cast member for several seasons and returned for the series' conclusion.Throughout his career, Diamond has appeared in numerous television shows, often taking on memorable recurring roles in popular series such as "24" as Jason Pillar, "Dollhouse" as Laurence Dominic, "The Shield," "Journeyman," "Bones," "The Mentalist," "Franklin & Bash," "Underground," "Designated Survivor" as FBI Director John Foerstel, and as Daniel Whitehall/Werner Reinhardt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." He also had a notable role in the Netflix series "13 Reasons Why."In film, his credits include "Clear and Present Danger" (1994), "Assassins" (1995), "Good Night, and Good Luck." (2005), and "Moneyball" (2011). More recently, he appeared in the 2025 thriller "Drop" as Richard. Diamond has also performed on Broadway and is a member of the rock band "Chuck Valiant," where he plays guitar alongside his wife, Marnie McPhail, who is the lead singer.
