Rhys Darby is a New Zealand actor, comedian, and writer known for his energetic physical comedy and distinctive storytelling style. Born on March 21, 1974, in Auckland, New Zealand, Darby first gained international recognition for his role as Murray Hewitt, the well-meaning but hapless manager in HBO’s Flight of the Conchords. He originally portrayed the character as Brian Nesbit in the BBC radio series of the same name . Before embarking on his entertainment career, Darby served in the New Zealand Army for four years, an experience that later influenced his comedic work .
