Richie Jen

Richie Jen Hsien-chi (born June 23, 1966, in Tianzhong, Changhua, Taiwan) is a highly popular Taiwanese singer, actor, and songwriter who graduated from the Chinese Culture University's physical education department. His career began in 1990 with the album Ask Again, and after enlisting in the military, he signed with Rock Records in 1996, which led to his major breakthrough. His fifth studio album, Too Softhearted (1996), became an Asian phenomenon, selling over 1 million copies in mainland China and over 2.3 million copies across Asia. His seventh album, Love Like Pacific Ocean (1998), became one of the best-selling albums of all time in Taiwan, with over 1.2 million copies sold. Beyond music, Jen established a successful acting career, starring in films such as Fly Me to Polaris (1999), Summer Holiday (2000), Exiled (2006), Accident (2009), Life Without Principle (2011), Trivisa (2016), and the recent Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In (2024). He also starred as Yang Guo in the 1998 Taiwanese series The Return of the Condor Heroes. Jen is a recipient of multiple accolades, including the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Original Film Song for "Fly Me to Polaris." He married former fashion designer Tina Chen in 2002, and they have two children. Jen is also known for his philanthropy, having publicly donated to help a family afford heart surgery for their child in 2001.
