Rick Kavanian
Rick Kavanian, born Richard Horatio Kavanian on January 26, 1971, in Munich, Germany, is a highly successful German-Armenian actor, comedian, author, and prolific voice actor, renowned for his close and long-standing creative collaboration with filmmaker Michael Bully Herbig. Raised in Munich by his Armenian-Romanian immigrant parents, Kavanian studied political science before partnering with Herbig in the early 1990s as a writer and speaker for a German comedy radio show, which eventually led to the hugely popular sketch comedy TV programs Bullyparade (1997–2002) and Bully & Rick. He cemented his status as a major German film star by playing the unforgettable Greek companion Dimitri in Herbig's record-breaking comedy Western, Der Schuh des Manitu (Manitou's Shoe) (2001), a role he is set to reprise in the highly anticipated 2025 sequel, Das Kanu des Manitu (Manitou's Canoe). Kavanian is also one of Germany's most recognized voice talents, having dubbed numerous Hollywood characters, most notably providing the German voice for Dracula in the Hotel Transylvania franchise and Marty (Chris Rock) in the Madagascar films, and voicing multiple roles for Mike Myers, including Austin Powers, Dr. Evil, and Fat Bastard in the Austin Powers sequels.
