Rita Avila, born Ana Marie Errea on September 20, 1964, in Manila, Philippines, is a highly respected Filipino actress and author with a career spanning several decades. She initially rose to prominence as a talent on the variety show That's Entertainment in the late 1980s. Throughout the 1990s, she established herself as a critically acclaimed film actress, starring in significant movies such as Stella Magtanggol (1992), The Flor Contemplacion Story (1995), and Tatlo, Magkasalo (1998). She later transitioned to a successful career in television, appearing in numerous drama series and anthologies, often portraying main protagonist or antagonist roles in shows like Familía Zaragoza (1995), Anna Karenina (1996–2002), Walang Hanggan (2012), and Ang sa Iyo ay Akin (2020–2021).Avila is married to television and film director Erick Reyes, whom she wed in 2003. Following the tragic loss of their infant son, Elia Jesú, just three weeks after his birth, Avila channeled her grief into writing. This led to her becoming a published author, with her works focusing on inspiration and guidance, including the inspirational booklet 8 Ways to Comfort with Grace and children's books like Si Erik Tutpik at si Ana Taba and the four-part series The Invisible Wings. Her writing and advocacy for children's rights are a significant part of her life outside of acting.
