Before pursuing acting, he spent three years in high school training in boxing, but ultimately decided to shift his focus after a conversation with his parents about career paths and the physical demands of contact sports. He graduated from the Vancouver Film School in 2013, citing his mother's suggestion to try acting as the catalyst for finding his passion in storytelling.Fetherstonhaugh's acting career began in 2014 with short films like Mob Kingdom and Flying Embri, followed by appearances in television series such as Supernatural and When Calls the Heart. He gained recognition for his recurring role as Sean in Wayward Pines (2015-2016) and his first full-length film appearance in Hello Destroyer (2016), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. He is also well-known for his main role as Nolan Gallard in the CBC drama 21 Thunder (2017).His filmography includes roles in significant productions like The Predator (2018), How It Ends (2018), Freaks (2018), and Lou (2022).
