Robbie Ryan
Robbie Ryan is a celebrated Irish cinematographer born in Dublin in 1970. He decided to pursue a career in cinematography at the age of 14, and later graduated from the Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology. Ryan's work spans over 106 film projects, including feature films, shorts, commercials, and music videos. He is known for his collaborations with a number of acclaimed directors, including Andrea Arnold, with whom he has worked on films such as Wasp, Fish Tank, Wuthering Heights, and American Honey. He has also frequently collaborated with Ken Loach on films like I, Daniel Blake and The Angels' Share, as well as with Yorgos Lanthimos on The Favourite, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness. Ryan has been nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Cinematography for his work on The Favourite (2018) and Poor Things (2023). He has also received numerous other accolades, including a British Independent Film Award for American Honey and a European Film Award for The Favourite.
