Roger Allam

Roger Allam is an acclaimed British actor with a distinguished career spanning stage, film, television, and radio. Born in London in 1953, he is a four-time Olivier Award winner, one of the highest honors in British theatre, where he is widely respected for his extensive work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre. His most famous stage role is creating the character of Inspector Javert in the original 1985 London production of the musical Les Misérables. On television, he is best known for starring as Detective Chief Inspector Fred Thursday in the Inspector Morse prequel series Endeavour (2012–2023), as the cynical politician Peter Mannion MP in the satirical comedy The Thick of It, and for his role as Illyrio Mopatis in Game of Thrones. Allam's notable film credits include playing Queen Elizabeth II's private secretary Robin Janvrin in The Queen (2006), Lewis Prothero in V for Vendetta (2005), Nicholas Hardiment in Tamara Drewe (2010), and more recently, Robert Maxwell in Tetris (2023). He is also celebrated for his work in radio, most notably as First Officer Douglas Richardson in the popular BBC Radio 4 comedy Cabin Pressure.
