Ronan Day-Lewis

Ronan Day-Lewis (born June 14, 1998) is an Irish director, screenwriter, and visual artist. He is the son of acclaimed actor Daniel Day-Lewis and filmmaker/author Rebecca Miller, and the grandson of playwright Arthur Miller. He graduated from Yale University with a BA in Art in 2020. Before making his feature film debut, Ronan established himself as a painter based in New York City, working in a style he describes as "punk Romanticism," which often features surrealist elements and a projection of human emotion onto landscapes. His art has been exhibited in New York and internationally.Ronan has followed in his parents' filmmaking footsteps, directing short films and music videos, and achieved international attention with his feature directorial debut, the psychological drama Anemone (2025). The film's creation became a high-profile industry event because Ronan co-wrote the screenplay with his father and successfully brought Daniel Day-Lewis out of retirement to star in the lead role—his first acting work in eight years. Anemone explores complex family bonds and generational trauma, set against the backdrop of the Irish countryside.
