Roy Dupuis
Roy Michael Joseph Dupuis is a Canadian actor, born on April 21, 1963, in New Liskeard, Ontario, to French-Canadian parents. Raised in Amos, Quebec, and Kapuskasing, Ontario, he became bilingual before graduating from the National Theatre School of Canada in 1986. Dupuis first achieved major fame in Quebec with his role as Ovila Pronovost in the 1990–91 television series Les Filles de Caleb (Emilie), and gained international recognition for playing counterterrorism operative Michael Samuelle in the television series La Femme Nikita (1997-2001). Highly acclaimed for his work in Canadian film, he has won multiple Genie and Jutra Awards for Best Actor, notably for his portrayal of a man with amnesia in Looking for Alexander (2004), ice hockey icon Maurice "Rocket" Richard in The Rocket (2005), and Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire in Shake Hands with the Devil (2007). Other notable film roles include the crime drama Being at Home with Claude (1992), and recent appearances in films like Knock at the Cabin (2023) and Rumours (2024). He has a personal interest in sailing, astronomy, and physics, and co-founded the Rivers Foundation, an environmental group dedicated to protecting Quebec's rivers.
