Roy Wood Jr., born on December 11, 1978, is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer. He is widely known for his eight-year tenure as a correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show from 2015 to 2023. His work on the show earned him an Emmy Award nomination. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Wood began his stand-up comedy career in 1998 at the age of 19 while attending Florida A&M University. He has since released several stand-up specials, including Roy Wood Jr.: No One Loves You, which remains Comedy Central's highest-rated original stand-up premiere. In 2023, he guest-hosted The Daily Show and headlined the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
