Royce Johnson is an American actor, screenwriter, and filmmaker, best known for his role as Detective Sergeant Brett Mahoney in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Netflix series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher. Born on May 27 in New Orleans, Louisiana, he graduated from Warren Easton High School in 1990. Johnson's acting career began with guest roles in television series such as Law & Order, Third Watch, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent in the early 2000s. He also appeared in Kidnapped, Life on Mars, and Cupid. His film credits include Demolition (2015), Let's Be Cops (2014), and Ghost in the Graveyard (2019). In addition to his screen work, Johnson has an extensive theater background. He has performed in Off-Broadway productions such as A Soldier’s Play, The Taking of Miss Janie, and Macbeth, and in regional theaters including Fences and A Lesson Before Dying. Johnson's contributions to television earned him recognition, including a role in the 2021 biographical crime drama miniseries For Life, which won the AAFCA TV Honors for Best Drama of the Year.
