Rupert James Hector Everett, born on May 29, 1959, is a distinguished English actor, writer, and singer who first garnered public attention for his portrayal of an openly gay student in the 1984 film Another Country, a role he had previously played on stage. Born into a privileged family in Norfolk, England, Everett was educated at Ampleforth College. He left school early to pursue acting, even supporting himself for a time as a rent boy.
