Sanjay Dutt (born 29 July 1959 in Mumbai) is a legendary Indian actor, producer, and former playback singer, recognized for his versatile roles ranging from action hero and anti-hero to the beloved "Munna Bhai" persona . The son of iconic actors Sunil and Nargis Dutt, he made his debut in Rocky (1981) and earned acclaim through powerful performances in Naam, Khalnayak, Vaastav, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Over an illustrious four-decade career, Dutt has appeared in more than 160 films across multiple languages, earning prestigious honors like two Filmfare Awards, three Screen Awards, and Global Indian Film Awards. Beyond acting, he co-hosted Bigg Boss (2011‑12), co-founded the Super Fight League (MMA), and expressed his creativity through Hindi poetry composed during his time in prison. Dutt's journey has been marked by personal and legal struggles, including battles with drug addiction, a high-profile conviction during the 1993 Mumbai blasts, and a subsequent three-year sentence, ultimately regaining his freedom in 2016. He later triumphed over stage‑4 lung cancer, emerging resilient and committed to raising awareness on substance abuse and health . He’s married to Manyata Dutt (since 2008), and they share twins—Shahraan and Iqra. He also has a daughter, Trishala, from his first marriage to Richa Sharma (1987–1996) . Dutt’s multifaceted off-screen persona includes philanthropy, wellness advocacy, and a deep connection with his spiritual side. Currently, Sanjay is actively engaging with South Indian cinema—shooting for KD – The Devil (Kannada), expressing candid views on Bollywood's evolving landscape—and starring in upcoming projects like The Bhootnii (OTT on ZEE5 from 18 July) and the feature Dhurandhar with Ranveer Singh releasing 5 December 2025.
