Saumya Tandon
Born on November 3, 1984, in Bhopal and raised in Ujjain, Saumya Tandon is a highly versatile Indian actress, television presenter, and model celebrated for her elegance and sharp comedic timing. Before entering the entertainment industry, she was a published poet, releasing her collection Meri Bhawnayein during her school years—a passion inspired by her father, Dr. B.G. Tandon, who was a respected professor and writer. Her professional journey began in modeling, where she earned national recognition as the first runner-up in the Femina Cover Girl contest in 2006. She made her acting debut that same year in the series Aisa Des Hai Mera, but it was her role as the chirpy Roop Dhillon in the 2007 blockbuster Jab We Met that first introduced her to film audiences. Tandon eventually became a household name through her portrayal of the sophisticated "Gori Mem" Anita Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in the long-running sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! (2015–2020), a character that defined a new era of urban comedy on Indian television. Beyond fiction, Saumya established herself as one of India's premier television hosts, anchoring three seasons of Dance India Dance, co-hosting Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout with Shah Rukh Khan, and leading multiple seasons of the Bournvita Quiz Contest alongside Derek O'Brien. Following her departure from her iconic sitcom role in 2020 to seek more creatively challenging work, she transitioned back to cinema with a career-defining performance in the 2025 spy thriller Dhurandhar. In this film, she moved away from her "chirpy" image to play Ulfat Hasin Baloch, the intense and fierce wife of the antagonist Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna), a role she is set to reprise with a cameo appearance in the sequel, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, slated for release in March 2026. In her personal life, she has been married to banker Saurabh Devendra Singh since 2016, and the couple has a son, Miraan, born in 2019.
