Seo Hyun-woo

Seo Hyun-woo (born November 20, 1983, in Changwon, South Korea) is a versatile South Korean actor known for his intense and immersive performances across film, television, and theater. A graduate of the Korea National University of Arts, he began his career in musical theater before transitioning into screen acting, where he quickly gained recognition for his nuanced portrayals of complex characters. Seo rose to prominence with his role as reporter Kim Moo-jin in the thriller drama Flower of Evil (2020) and earned further acclaim in Park Chan-wook’s Decision to Leave (2022), which won him the New Actor Award at the Director’s Cut Awards. He took on his first leading role in the gritty crime film Thunderbird (2022), winning the Fantastic Actor Award at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. Known for playing morally ambiguous or villainous roles—earning him the nickname “villain collector”—Seo has demonstrated a remarkable range, from psychological horror (Seire) to political thrillers (The Man Standing Next). In 2024, he won Best Supporting Actor at the SBS Drama Awards for his performance in The Fiery Priest 2. Continuing to expand his portfolio, Seo stars as the unsettling upstairs neighbor in Netflix’s psychological thriller Wall to Wall (2025), cementing his status as one of Korea’s most compelling character actors.
