Shashank Khaitan
Shashank Khaitan is an Indian filmmaker born on February 28, 1982, in Calcutta, who was raised in Nashik, Maharashtra. Initially interested in sports, he moved to Mumbai at 17 to pursue entertainment, starting as a dance instructor before enrolling at Whistling Woods International Institute to learn filmmaking. He made his directorial debut with the successful romantic comedy Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), and solidified his reputation by writing and directing its spiritual sequel, the romantic drama Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017), for which he earned a Filmfare Award for Best Director nomination. He then directed the popular remake Dhadak (2018), and the comedy-thriller Govinda Naam Mera (2022). Khaitan has also served as a producer on films like Good Newwz (2019) and Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship (2020), and has contributed as a writer to films like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023). His latest work as a writer and director is the romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari (2025), starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, which is the third film in the "Dulhania" franchise.
