Shelley Catherine Hennig is an American actress, model, and former beauty queen, born on January 2, 1987, in Metairie, Louisiana. Her career began in the world of beauty pageants, where she notably won the Miss Louisiana Teen USA 2004 title and went on to win the national Miss Teen USA 2004 competition. Following her win, which included a scholarship to the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, she transitioned into acting, landing her first major role in 2007 as Stephanie Johnson on the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives, a role for which she received two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Younger Actress. After leaving the soap in 2011, she starred as the lead witch Diana Meade on The CW's supernatural teen drama The Secret Circle (2011–2012). Hennig gained widespread popularity for her role as the sarcastic werecoyote Malia Tate on the MTV supernatural drama series Teen Wolf (2014–2017), which she reprised for the 2023 film Teen Wolf: The Movie. Her film work includes roles in the popular screen-based horror films Ouija (2014) and Unfriended (2014), the romantic comedy When We First Met (2018), and the drama Roman J. Israel, Esq. (2017). More recently, she starred as CIA agent Ava Winters in the Netflix action-comedy series Obliterated (2023) and is set to appear in upcoming projects like the films Cult Killer (2024), Fluxx (2024), and Hunting Season (2025).
