Shinya Hamada
Shinya Hamada (born July 13, 1979) is a highly respected Japanese stage and screen actor known for his intellectual and earnest performances. A veteran of the Tokyo theater scene, Hamada is a core member of the prestigious Ikiume theater company, where he has worked closely with director Tomohiro Maekawa since 2004. He is particularly recognized for his "kind voice" and "father-like presence," often playing complex, earnest characters that range from reclusive outsiders to pillars of a community. In 2012, his versatility earned him an Individual Award at the 47th Kinokuniya Theatre Awards. In the 2025 Netflix live-action film 10DANCE, Hamada serves as a key member of the supporting cast alongside leads Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida. His casting brings a seasoned depth to the production, which is directed by Keishi Otomo. Outside of 10DANCE, Hamada is well known to film audiences for his work in Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Before We Vanish (2017) and the Bayside Shakedown series.
