Simon John Pegg (né Beckingham; born February 14, 1970) is a highly acclaimed English actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer, celebrated for his witty performances and contributions to British comedy and international blockbusters. He rose to prominence as the co-creator and star of the cult Channel 4 sitcom Spaced (1999–2001), directed by Edgar Wright, which showcased his unique blend of geek culture references and physical comedy. This collaboration with Wright continued with the celebrated "Three Flavours Cornetto" film trilogy: the zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead (2004), the action-comedy Hot Fuzz (2007), and the sci-fi comedy The World's End (2013), all of which he co-wrote and starred in alongside his long-time friend and collaborator Nick Frost.Beyond his comedic work, Pegg has achieved mainstream success in major franchises. He took on the iconic role of Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in J.J. Abrams' rebooted Star Trek film series (2009-2016) and has been a key member of the Mission: Impossible team since Mission: Impossible III (2006), playing the role of the tech expert Benji Dunn, a character he will reprise in Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (2025). His versatility extends to voice acting in animated films like the Ice Age franchise as Buck and The Adventures of Tintin as Thompson. Pegg has also demonstrated his writing talents on projects like Paul (2011) and Run Fatboy Run (2007), and he continues to be a significant figure in both comedy and action cinema, earning numerous awards and nominations throughout his career, including a British Independent Film Award for Best Screenplay for Shaun of the Dead and a National Film Award for his Global Contribution to Motion Picture.
