Simon Woods
Simon Woods is an English actor and playwright, born on January 7, 1980. He attended Eton College and then studied English at Magdalen College, Oxford. After a brief period working at The Guardian, he embarked on an acting career. Woods is perhaps best known for his role as the amiable Mr. Charles Bingley in Joe Wright's 2005 film adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, where he starred opposite Rosamund Pike, with whom he had a two-year relationship while at Oxford. His other notable acting credits include playing Octavian in the second season of the HBO series Rome (2007) and Dr. Harrison in the BBC miniseries Cranford (2007). In recent years, Woods has transitioned to writing, with his first play, "Hansard," premiering at The National Theatre in London in 2019. His debut short film as a writer-director, "Such a Lovely Day," received a BAFTA nomination in 2024. He is married to Christopher Bailey, the former chief executive and chief creative officer of Burberry, and they have two daughters, Iris and Nell, residing in Oxford.
