Sivakarthikeyan (born February 17, 1985) is a major superstar in Tamil cinema whose journey from a television stand-up comedian to a leading "tier-1" actor is considered one of the most inspirational success stories in Kollywood. Born in Singampunari, Tamil Nadu, to a police officer, he initially gained fame as a mimicry artist and the winner of Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? Season 2. After a successful stint as a television host on Star Vijay, he made his film debut with Marina (2012) and quickly rose to stardom with commercial hits like Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, Rajini Murugan, and Remo. In recent years, he has successfully transitioned from "chocolate hero" roles to high-stakes performance-oriented films, achieving massive global success with Doctor (2021), Don (2022), and the 2024 biographical war drama Amaran, which grossed over ₹300 crore worldwide. As of late 2025, he is at the pinnacle of his career, fresh off the success of his action-thriller Madharaasi (directed by A.R. Murugadoss) and gearing up for his 25th milestone film, Parasakthi, scheduled for a Pongal 2026 release.
