Sophie Cookson is a prominent English actress born on May 15, 1990, in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. The daughter of Colin Cookson, a finance professional, and Marie Louise Cookson, an English teacher, she was raised in Sussex and later Suffolk. Her passion for the arts began at age ten when she joined the British Youth Music Theatre and toured Japan. After attending Woodbridge School, she initially enrolled at the University of Edinburgh to study Art History, Spanish, and Arabic; however, she soon left to pursue professional training at the Oxford School of Drama, graduating in 2013.Cookson’s career launched while she was still in drama school with a role in the miniseries Moonfleet (2013). Her major international breakthrough arrived in 2014 when she was cast as the elite secret agent Roxy Morton (Lancelot) in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service, beating out several established actresses for the role. She later reprised this character in the 2017 sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Her filmography expanded with roles in the dark fantasy The Huntsman: Winter's War (2016) as Pippa, the lead in the horror film The Crucifixion (2017), and the satire Greed (2019). In a significant personal pivot, Cookson announced in May 2025 that she had become a certified yoga teacher following a "radical reset" for her well-being. She has been in a relationship with actor Stephen Campbell Moore since 2018; the couple met on the set of Red Joan and has one daughter, born in 2020.
