Steffen Wink

Born on July 5, 1967, in Pirmasens, Germany, Steffen Wink is an established German actor whose career spans over three decades of film, television, and stage performance. After receiving his professional training at the Berlin University of the Arts (HdK) from 1989 to 1993, he began his career with a prestigious engagement at the Residenztheater in Munich, working under directors like Leander Haußmann. Wink rose to national fame in the late 1990s, notably for his recurring role as Commissioner Schrader in the legendary crime series Schimanski alongside Götz George, and for starring in the cult comedy Kai Rabe gegen die Vatikankiller (1998). His international exposure grew through roles in major productions like the miniseries Les Misérables (2000), where he shared the screen with John Malkovich and Gérard Depardieu. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Wink remained a constant presence in German cinema and television, appearing in Til Schweiger’s Barfuss (2005) and Kokowääh 2 (2013), as well as the Netflix series Berlin Station and Kitz. In the 2024–2025 season, he experienced a career resurgence with a key role as Wilhelm in Fatih Akin’s acclaimed historical drama Amrum (2025). Outside of acting, Wink is a passionate aviator, holding a private pilot's license and several certifications for paragliding and wing-walking. He has been married to actress Genoveva Mayer since 2013, and together they reside in Munich. In early 2026, he remains active in both television—recently appearing in Hubert ohne Staller—and cinema, with his latest film Nur für Verrückte set for release.
