Stéphane Garneau-Monten is a New Zealand-born actor, producer, and writer based in Toronto, Canada. Born in 1989 in Auckland, he grew up in Devonport, a harbourside suburb of the city. He honed his craft at the National Theatre School of Canada, graduating in 2013. Garneau-Monten is best known for his role as Kurt in the 2022 horror film M3GAN, produced by Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures. In this film, his character is an employee at the tech company Funki, who becomes one of M3GAN's victims . His performance in M3GAN is part of a diverse body of work that spans television, film, and theatre. His filmography includes appearances in Kin (2018), Hotwired in Suburbia (2020), and The Sweetheart (2017) . On television, he has been featured in series such as Sweet Tooth, Straight Forward, Murdoch Mysteries, Conviction, and Reign . Additionally, Garneau-Monten is a founding member of the Moose + Moa theatre company . Beyond acting, he has written and produced short films that have garnered recognition at various film festivals. His short film Love is Eternal was a finalist for Best Short Film at the IMDb Independent Shorts Awards and a quarter-finalist at the London Film & Television Festival. He is currently working on his next short film, Another Hero, set to debut on the festival circuit in July 2025. Garneau-Monten is also an accomplished musician, having played guitar in the Toronto-based indie rock band Dress Black. The band performed in cities such as New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa, and was nominated twice for Best Indie at the Toronto Independent Music Awards.
