Stephen Lang is a highly recognized American stage and screen actor and playwright, born on July 11, 1952, in New York City. He graduated from Swarthmore College with a degree in English Literature in 1973 and began his career in theater, achieving recognition with a Tony Award nomination for the Broadway production of The Speed of Darkness in 1992, and winning a Helen Hayes Award for his role in the stage play A Few Good Men.Lang's film and television career is marked by his commanding presence, often portraying powerful military figures or imposing antagonists. He is most widely famous for his role as the main antagonist, Colonel Miles Quaritch, in James Cameron's science fiction epic Avatar (2009), a role for which he won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor and reprised in the sequel Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and is set to continue in upcoming installments. Other notable film roles include playing the blind, menacing veteran Norman Nordstrom in the horror thrillers Don't Breathe (2016) and Don't Breathe 2 (2021).
