Steve Park
Stephen Park, born on May 4, 1962, in Vestal, New York, is an American actor and comedian of Korean descent. He began his career as a stand-up comedian before transitioning into acting. Park gained prominence as a cast member on the 1990s sketch comedy show In Living Color. His film credits include roles in Do the Right Thing (1989), Fargo (1996), A Serious Man (2009), Snowpiercer (2013), The French Dispatch (2021), and Asteroid City (2023). In 1997, Park wrote a mission statement advocating for better representation of Asian Americans in Hollywood. This was prompted by a racist incident he witnessed on the set of Friends, where a crew member used a derogatory term to refer to actor James Hong. Park's statement, which he distributed widely, highlighted systemic issues in the industry and called for change. Park married fellow In Living Color cast member Kelly Coffield in 1999, and they have two children. Professionally, he now uses the name "Stephen Park," which he used prior to his acting career.
