Subaru Kimura (木村 昴, Kimura Subaru), born as Subaru Samuel Bartsch on June 29, 1990, in Leipzig, East Germany, is a highly versatile German-born Japanese actor, voice actor (seiyū), and rapper. With a German father and a Japanese mother who was a vocalist, Kimura spent his early childhood in Germany before moving to Japan at the age of seven. His career began in the theater, including an appearance as a tap dancer in the musical Annie in 2002. His breakout role came early in his career at the age of 14, when he succeeded Kazuya Tatekabe as the voice of the iconic bully Takeshi "Gian" Goda in the Doraemon series, a role he has held since 2005. Known for his powerful, often rough, and energetic voice, he is frequently cast as loud, confident, or charismatic characters. His other highly notable roles include the hot-headed genius Aoi Tōdō in Jujutsu Kaisen, the rapping leader Ichirō Yamada in the Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle franchise, the passionate volleyball player Satori Tendō in Haikyuu!!, the protagonist Hanamichi Sakuragi in The First Slam Dunk movie, and the eccentric demon Vice/Kamen Rider Vice in Kamen Rider Revice. Furthermore, in 2025, he succeeded Kazuki Yao as the voice of Franky in the One Piece anime. Beyond voice acting, Kimura is an accomplished rapper and an active television personality, notably serving as the main MC for the variety show Oha Suta.
