Tadanobu Satō (born November 27, 1973), known professionally as Tadanobu Asano, is a highly regarded Japanese actor, musician, and artist. He is celebrated for his versatility, having starred in a wide range of films, from internationally acclaimed blockbusters to independent art house cinema.Asano began his acting career in the late 1980s and quickly rose to prominence in the 1990s as a key figure in the Japanese film industry. He gained international recognition for his roles in films such as Ichi the Killer (2001), Zatoichi (2003), and Last Life in the Universe (2003).In the 2010s, he successfully transitioned to Hollywood, making a significant impact with his portrayal of Hogun in Marvel's Thor franchise (Thor, Thor: The Dark World, and Thor: Ragnarok). His other notable Hollywood roles include the action-packed films Battleship (2012) and Midway (2019).
