Takehiro Hira (平 岳大, Hira Takehiro) is a distinguished Japanese actor, born on July 27, 1974, in Setagaya, Tokyo. He comes from a prominent acting family, being the son of renowned actors Mikijirō Hira and Yoshiko Sakuma. His early life involved a blend of Japanese and American education, as he was raised in Japan until the age of 15 before attending high school in Providence, Rhode Island, and then Brown University in the United States. Prior to his acting career, he held diverse jobs, including a care provider for autistic children, a financial analyst, a project manager at an internet startup, and even a tempura chef.Hira made his theatrical debut in 2002 and collaborated closely with his father, notably playing Iago to his father's Othello. He gained significant recognition in Japan for his portrayal of the last shogun, Yoshinobu Tokugawa, in the NHK taiga drama Atsuhime (2008).
