Tate Donovan
Tate Donovan is an American actor, director, and producer born on September 25, 1963, in Tenafly, New Jersey. He began his acting career in his teens with television films like Not My Kid (1985) and Nutcracker: Money, Madness & Murder (1987). Donovan attended the University of Southern California, where he befriended future collaborators George Clooney and Grant Heslov. He later moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting professionally. Donovan's early film roles include SpaceCamp (1986), Clean and Sober (1988), and Memphis Belle (1990). He gained wider recognition as the lead in the romantic comedy Love Potion No. 9 (1992), starring opposite Sandra Bullock. In 1997, he voiced the title character in Disney’s animated film Hercules, a role he reprised in the television series and several Kingdom Hearts video games. On television, Donovan is known for his roles as Tom Shayes in Damages, Jimmy Cooper in The O.C., and Joshua Burgin in Friends. He also appeared as Mark Boudreau in the miniseries 24: Live Another Day. In addition to his acting career, Donovan has directed episodes of several television series, including Madam Secretary, Bloodline, Damages, The Fosters, Glee, Weeds, Gossip Girl, and The O.C.. He also directed the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary short Arthur and Johnnie, which won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series. Donovan was in relationships with actresses Sandra Bullock (1990–1994) and Jennifer Aniston (1995–1998). He married writer Corinne Kingsbury in 2005; they divorced in 2008. He married Corry Scheuerman in 2015. Donovan is also known for his involvement in Irish traditional music. While living in Los Angeles, he joined an Irish trad band, believing it would help his love life. Although he discovered that playing the fiddle wasn't as appealing to women as he thought, his involvement in the band became a significant cultural experience and helped him connect with his roots.
