Thomasin McKenzie
Born on July 26, 2000, in Wellington, New Zealand, Thomasin McKenzie is a highly acclaimed actress known for her naturalistic and versatile performances. She comes from a prominent New Zealand acting family; her mother is actress and coach Miranda Harcourt, her father is director Stuart McKenzie, and her grandmother is Dame Kate Harcourt. Though she initially hesitated to follow the family trade, she began acting as a child to "buy toys" and eventually fell in love with the craft. She attended Samuel Marsden Collegiate School, graduating in 2018. McKenzie gained international stardom with her breakout role as Tom in Leave No Trace (2018), which won her the National Board of Review Award for Breakthrough Performance. She has since starred in several major films, including the Oscar-winning Jojo Rabbit, Edgar Wright's Last Night in Soho, M. Night Shyamalan's Old, and the psychological thriller Eileen opposite Anne Hathaway. In 2024 and 2025, McKenzie has continued to take on diverse and challenging projects. She starred as British embryologist Jean Purdy in the Netflix film Joy (2024) and played the lead in the historical musical drama The Testament of Ann Lee, which premiered at the 2025 BFI London Film Festival. In the 2025 period comedy Fackham Hall, she stars as Rose Davenport, the youngest daughter of the Davenport estate. Her character is a rebellious young woman who challenges traditional aristocratic norms and engages in a forbidden romance with a pickpocket-turned-porter, Eric Noone (Ben Radcliffe).
