Tia Carrere, born Althea Rae Duhinio Janairo on January 2, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii, is a versatile American actress, singer, and model. She began her career in the mid-1980s, gaining early exposure on the soap opera General Hospital. Her breakthrough came with her iconic role as Cassandra Wong, the rock singer and love interest of Mike Myers' character, in the highly popular film Wayne's World (1992) and its sequel Wayne's World 2 (1993), where she showcased her singing talent by performing her own songs.Carrere continued to build a diverse filmography, playing significant roles such as Juno Skinner, a villainess, in James Cameron's action-comedy True Lies (1994) opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jingo Asakuma in Rising Sun (1993). She also starred as the adventurous archaeologist Sydney Fox in the television series Relic Hunter (1999-2002).A notable part of her career includes her extensive work with Disney, most famously as the voice of Nani Pelekai, Lilo's older sister and legal guardian, in the beloved animated film Lilo & Stitch (2002). She reprised this role in subsequent direct-to-video sequels and the animated television series. Beyond her acting, Carrere is also a Grammy-winning musician, having released several albums in the Hawaiian music genre, earning two Grammy Awards. Her recent work includes appearances in television series like AJ and the Queen, Never Have I Ever, and the film Easter Sunday. She is set to return to the Lilo & Stitch universe in the upcoming live-action adaptation (2025), where she will play a new character, Mrs. Kekoa.
