James Timothy "Tim" Daly is an acclaimed American actor, producer, and director, born on March 1, 1956, in New York City. He hails from a distinguished acting family, being the son of actor James Daly and actress Mary Hope Daly, and the younger brother of renowned actress Tyne Daly. His theatrical debut came at the age of seven, appearing alongside his parents and sisters in Jenny Kissed Me, and he made his TV debut at ten in an American Playhouse adaptation starring his father. Despite early exposure to the arts, he initially considered careers in sports, music, medicine, or law before ultimately pursuing acting, studying Theatre and Literature at Bennington College, from which he graduated in 1979.Daly's extensive career spans television, film, and theater. He is perhaps most widely recognized for his starring role as Joe Hackett on the hit NBC sitcom Wings (1990-1997). His voice work as Clark Kent/Superman in Superman: The Animated Series (1996-2000) also cemented his place in pop culture. Other notable television roles include the drug-addicted J.T. Dolan on The Sopranos, for which he received an Emmy nomination, Dr. Pete Wilder on Private Practice (2007-2012), and Henry McCord, the husband of the titular character, on the CBS drama Madam Secretary (2014-2019).
