Tom Goodman-Hill
Born on May 21, 1968, in Enfield, Middlesex, Tom Goodman-Hill is a prolific English actor whose career spans over three decades across theatre, television, film, and radio. Raised near Newcastle upon Tyne, he initially pursued a career in education, earning a degree in Drama and English with a teaching qualification from the University of Warwick. After a brief stint as a supply teacher, he moved to London to act full-time, quickly establishing himself as a versatile performer capable of moving between high-stakes drama and sharp comedy. He is perhaps best known to international audiences for his roles as the well-meaning but conflicted Joe Hawkins in the sci-fi hit Humans (2015–2018) and the stoic department store manager Roger Grove in Mr Selfridge. His stage work is equally distinguished, notably earning a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for his performance as Sir Lancelot in the original London production of Spamalot. In 2024 and 2025, Goodman-Hill experienced a major career surge following his chilling performance as the predatory TV writer Darrien O’Connor in the global Netflix phenomenon Baby Reindeer. The role earned him widespread critical acclaim and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2024. Building on this momentum, he stars in the 2025 comedy film Fackham Hall as Inspector Watt, a bumbling detective whose "investigation" into a manor house murder provides much of the film's satirical humor. He is also set to appear in the 2025 thriller series Down Cemetery Road alongside Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson. Personally, Goodman-Hill has been married to fellow actress Jessica Raine (of Call the Midwife fame) since 2015; the couple met while performing in the play Earthquakes in London and have one son together.
