Tom Skerritt
Tom Skerritt is an American actor and director born on August 25, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan. With a career spanning over six decades, he has appeared in more than 170 film and television productions. Skerritt's early education included attending Wayne State University and the University of California, Los Angeles. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 as a classifications specialist . Skerritt's film debut came in 1962 with War Hunt. He gained prominence with roles in films such as MASH* (1970), Alien (1979), Top Gun (1986), and A River Runs Through It (1992). On television, he is best known for portraying Sheriff Jimmy Brock in the series Picket Fences (1992–1996), for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award and received two Golden Globe nominations . Beyond acting, Skerritt is a co-founder of TheFilmSchool, an institution dedicated to educating aspiring filmmakers. He is also a passionate environmentalist and advocate for conservation. Skerritt has been married three times and has five children. He is currently married to Julie Tokashiki since 1996. In 2022, he received the International Press Academy's honorary Mary Pickford Award for "Outstanding Artistic Contribution to the Entertainment Industry" .
