He is best known for his role as Dewey Finn in Nickelodeon's School of Rock (2016–2018), a television series inspired by the 2003 film of the same name. Cavalero's portrayal of the rock 'n' roll substitute teacher earned him recognition among younger audiences. In addition to his work on School of Rock, Cavalero has appeared in various television series and films. He portrayed Keefe Chambers in HBO's The Righteous Gemstones (2019–present), a dark comedy about a wealthy and corrupt family of megachurch pastors. His other notable roles include playing Ozzy Osbourne in the Netflix film The Dirt (2019), which chronicles the rise of the rock band Mötley Crüe. Cavalero has also featured in series such as The Conners, Miracle Workers, and Archer, showcasing his versatility across different genres..
