Tony Hale is an American actor and comedian, born on September 30, 1970, in West Point, New York. He is best known for his roles as Buster Bluth in Arrested Development and as Gary Walsh in Veep, for which he won Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2013 and 2015 . Hale's filmography includes appearances in The Informant! (2009), The Heat (2013), Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip (2015), Clifford the Big Red Dog (2021), Hocus Pocus 2 (2022), and Quiz Lady (2023) . He has also provided voice work for animated films such as Toy Story 4 (2019), Inside Out 2 (2024), and the Angry Birds movies. In 2024, Hale starred in the upcoming comedy-horror film Sketch, scheduled for release on August 6, 2025. The film follows a widowed father whose daughter's sketchbook brings to life monsters made of crayon wax and chalk dust. Hale is married to Emmy Award-winning makeup artist Martel Thompson since 2003, and they have a daughter, Loy Ann, born in 2006. The family practices Christianity and resides in Los Angeles .
