Tsuyoshi Kusanagi (草彅 剛) is a renowned Japanese actor, singer, and television host, born on July 9, 1974, in Seiyo, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. He first gained prominence as a member of SMAP, one of Japan's most successful and influential boy bands, which was active from 1988 until its disbandment in 2016. Following the breakup of SMAP, Kusanagi continued his career as a solo artist and actor. He has appeared in numerous films and television dramas, including his acclaimed performance in Midnight Swan (2020), where he portrayed a transgender nightclub worker, earning the Japan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. Kusanagi also starred in notable films such as Yomigaeri (2002), The Hotel Venus (2004), and Sinking of Japan (2006). Beyond acting, he was a popular television personality, co-hosting the variety show SMAP×SMAP for over two decades and hosting other programs like Waratte Iitomo and Chonan Kan.
