Vaiyapuri
Vaiyapuri (born Ramakrishnan on 1968, in Theni, Tamil Nadu) is a veteran Indian actor widely recognized for his work in Tamil-language films, predominantly portraying supporting and comedic roles. He initially moved to Chennai in 1986 with aspirations of becoming an actor and began his career in television serials before transitioning to cinema. His major breakthrough came with his role in Balu Mahendra's Raman Abdullah (1997), and he subsequently gained critical acclaim for his distinctive comedic performances in films like Vasanth's Thullatha Manamum Thullum (1999), where he portrayed a man slowly becoming a transgender person. Throughout his career, Vaiyapuri has been a frequent collaborator with actor Kamal Haasan, featuring in several of his films, including Kaathala Kaathala (1998), Mumbai Xpress (2005), Uttama Villain (2015), and Papanasam (2015). A significant turning point was his role as a transgender person in Mani Ratnam's Raavanan (2010). In addition to his film work spanning over 250 movies, Vaiyapuri gained further media attention in 2017 when he participated as a contestant in the first season of the popular reality television show Bigg Boss Tamil, hosted by Kamal Haasan.
