Vanessa Scalera is a highly regarded Italian actress, born on April 5, 1977, in Mesagne, Puglia. After moving to Rome in 1996, she trained at the La Scaletta drama school and began her career in the theatre, performing in various notable productions alongside prominent Italian artists. She made her film debut in 2001 and gained early cinematic experience in a cameo role in Marco Bellocchio’s Vincere (2009) and a role in Nanni Moretti's Mia Madre (2015). Her profile began to rise in television with the starring role in the 2015 TV film Lea, directed by Marco Tullio Giordana, where she portrayed the real-life story of anti-mafia witness Lea Garofalo.Scalera achieved widespread national recognition and critical success with the title role of the unconventional prosecutor in the popular Rai 1 crime series, Imma Tataranni – Sostituto procuratore (since 2019), for which she won the Premio Flaiano for Best Female Performance.
