Varun Saranga

Varun Saranga is a Canadian actor and filmmaker, born on March 1, 1990, in Scarborough, Ontario, to parents hailing from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He began his professional acting career at the age of 18, securing his breakthrough role as A.J. Mehta, the geeky older brother in the Canadian teen sitcom How to Be Indie (2009–2011). Saranga is perhaps best known for his main role as the lovable tech specialist Jeremy Chetri in the Syfy supernatural Western series Wynonna Earp (2016–2021). An alumnus of the prestigious Canadian Film Centre's CBC Actors Conservatory program, he has showcased his versatility across genres, appearing in notable television series such as a guest role in Schitt's Creek (2016), a recurring role in Burden of Truth (2019) as Noah Achari, and most recently as Alvin Canada in the sitcom Shelved (2023). Saranga holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from York University and is also an active filmmaker who has directed several short films, continuing to build a diverse body of work in both Canadian and international productions.
