Vassilis Koukalani

Vassilis Koukalani is a German-born actor of Iranian and Greek descent. Born in Cologne, Germany, in 1969, he later moved to Tehran and then Athens, where he attended the German School of Athens. He pursued his acting studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Fluent in multiple languages, including English, German, Greek, and Farsi, Koukalani has built a versatile career in European cinema and television. He is particularly known for his role as Police Chief Qasem Mohammadi in the internationally acclaimed series Tehran and for his work in films such as Amerika Square (for which he received a special mention at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival) and The Lost Daughter. He has also appeared in the film Kandahar and the upcoming action thriller Dirty Angels (2024). Beyond his on-screen work, Koukalani is a prominent theater actor and director in Greece and has also collaborated with the Grip Theater in Berlin.
